First run by the eponymous local hotelier in 1932, The Bob Graham Round is a supreme test of fell-running. 66 miles, 27,000 feet and 42 peaks in under 24 hours. Each year hundreds make the attempt to join the elite club of successful runners. Most will fail but such is the allure of this Blue Riband event that they will almost certainly try again...
Runners must spend many days reconnoitring their selected route to familiarise themselves so that no time is wasted on the day. Even a minute's rest atop each of the peaks could put them outside of the demanding time limit.
Not one for the faint-hearted, the 'Bob' remains the gold standard of 24 hour fell-running tests in the UK.
